About the founder
Rie Aleksandra Walle is the founder of NoTies Consulting and the DPO Hub, co-host the widely known Grumpy GDPR podcast, and is a trusted sparring partner for DPOs.
Rie has over 18 years of experience across the public and private sectors, in strategy, digital transformation and business development. With over five years in EY Nordic and Middle East, she has led cross-cultural teams, managed high-stakes projects and multi-million-dollar accounts across diverse markets.
She is the Privacy Officer for Fathom Analytics (Canada) and Padlet (US), former Fractional CPO for Quizrr (Sweden), has acted as external DPO for Postmark and Demio (US) - and worked directly with over 100 organisations in Germany, Thailand, Singapore, the Nordics, and more.
Rie guest lectures and is an external grader at BI Norwegian Business School, Kristiania University College and HINN University, and is part of the European Data Protection Board’s external Pool of Experts. She also collaborates with leading privacy and cybersecurity experts across the EEA and the US.
Her approach to privacy and data protection is practical, no-BS and business-focused. For credentials, references and GDPR updates, follow her on LinkedIn.
I've had the pleasure of working with Rie in her role as Privacy Officer at Fathom Analytics. When we're not trying to determine in-transit data flows or solve the complexities of international data transfers, we often find ourselves discussing obscure and rarely explored aspects of privacy and technology (and some gaming). I thought I was a big privacy nerd—until I met Rie. Rie is extremely knowledgeable about the requirements of privacy law, to a level beyond many attorneys and "GDPR experts". Combined with her genuine passion for the field, her outstanding project management abilities, and her desire to package GDPR into a digestible matter, Rie gets my highest recommendation.
